SEASONAL PARK MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEE
The City of Hiawatha is accepting applications for a Seasonal Park Maintenance Position. The position would be responsible for performing a wide variety of activities related to the city parks and other city facilities. The City is looking for a self motivated individual with good communication skills, ability to follow instructions, operate construction equipment, complete minor repairs; includes mowing, trimming and weeding. Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills is beneficial. Pre-employment physical and a valid driver's license required. Must be 18 to apply. Application must be submitted to the City Clerk's Office by March 14, 2014 at 5:00 P.M.

Protects life and property by performing emergency medical service, fire fighting, hazardous materials, fire prevention, education, and training duties. Operates and maintains fire and EMS equipment, apparatus, and facilities.

Deadline to Apply:
Applications are accepted year round.
Part Time 16 - 30 hours a week.
Hours are not guaranteed and may vary as needed.
The incumbent may be required to work days, weekends, early mornings, evenings or overnights as needed.
Tentative Start Date:
Three years experience in the fire service with transport EMS experience. Certification as Paramedic Specialist, Firefighter 1, and related training. Possession of valid Iowa driver's license.
Emphasis on this position is the delivery of Advanced Life Support EMS, however, applicant must have the ability to function as a firefighter, including performing interior operations wearing an PPE and SCBA, and the driving and operating of various fire apparatus.
Candidates are required to complete pre-employment, post offer physical, drug screen, and background check.

Adventure Camp Staff: Summer Leaders for the Hiawatha Kids Adventure Camp in the Parks Program are needed. Working with children from the ages of 5 - 13 in daily activities and field trips; Program dates June 9, 2014 - August 8, 2014. Posting will be available in April.
Internships at Parks and Recreation Office.
