Police Officer Position(s) Available

The City of Hiawatha will receive applications until 5:00 P.M., May 17, 2013, for the positions of two (2) full-time Police Officers with the Hiawatha Police Department. Required Qualifications: In addition to the City of Hiawatha standards (high school diploma or GED, must be 18 years of age, and a valid driver's license) Complete the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy within 1 year; or begin the academy within 1 year of hire; possess and maintain a professional permit to carry a weapon as issued by the State of Iowa; pass all testing requirements; written, physical, MMPI, polygraph and background investigations. Fire Medic

Job Summary:

Protects life and property by performing emergency medical service, fire fighting, hazardous materials, fire prevention, education, and training duties. Operates and maintains fire and EMS equipment, apparatus, and facilities.

Specific Qualifications:

Three years experience in the fire service with transport EMS experience. Certification as Paramedic Specialist, Firefighter 1, and related training. Possession of valid Iowa driver's license.

Emphasis on this position is the delivery of Advanced Life Support EMS, however, applicant must have the ability to function as a firefighter, including performing interior operations wearing an PPE and SCBA, and the driving and operating of various fire apparatus.

Candidates are required to complete pre-employment, post offer physical, drug screen, and background check.
