This week, the CDC announced changes to quarantine guidelines. This <u>new guidance is for close contacts<\/u> to a case of COVID-19.\u00a0 <strong>This does not apply to those diagnosed or suspected of having COVID-19.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CDC currently recommends a quarantine period of 14 days. However, the following options to shorten quarantine are acceptable alternatives. If an alternative option is used, it is important for the close contact to continue with self-monitoring\u00a0for symptoms\u00a0<strong><u>AND<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0with strict adherence of facial coverings until 14 days from the last date of contact with the infected individual has passed.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quarantine can end after\u00a0<strong>Day 10<\/strong>\u00a0<u>without<\/u>\u00a0testing\u00a0<strong><u>AND<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0if no symptoms have been reported during daily monitoring.\n<ul>\n<li>Resume normal activities on day 11.<\/li>\n<li>Quarantine begins on the last day of contact with the infected individual.<\/li>\n<li>If living in the same household, and the close contact is not able to separate from the infected individual, the quarantine will begin after\u00a0the infected individual has met the recovery criteria.<\/li>\n<li>If the close contact develops symptoms, begin the isolation procedures for individuals with confirmed\u00a0<strong><u>OR<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0suspected COVID<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Quarantine can end after\u00a0<strong>Day 7<\/strong>\u00a0if a COVID test is negative\u00a0<strong><u>AND<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0if no symptoms were reported during daily monitoring.
