{"id":3500,"date":"2026-06-25T20:30:22","date_gmt":"2026-06-25T20:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hiawatha-iowa.com\/news\/?p=3500"},"modified":"2026-06-25T20:30:22","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T20:30:22","slug":"no-parking-restrictions-announced-along-new-freedom-festival-parade-route-in-hiawatha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hiawatha-iowa.com\/news\/no-parking-restrictions-announced-along-new-freedom-festival-parade-route-in-hiawatha\/","title":{"rendered":"No Parking Restrictions Announced Along New Freedom Festival Parade Route in Hiawatha"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In preparation for the 2026 Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival Parade, which is moving to a brand-new route in Hiawatha for the first time ever, the City of Hiawatha has announced strict emergency &#8220;No Parking&#8221; restrictions to ensure public safety and a smooth flow for parade participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"gmail-p-rc_5911cabe296b6d73-29\">The parade, themed \u201cParty Like It\u2019s 1776: America\u2019s Birthday Bash,\u201d will take place on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, beginning promptly at 10:00 AM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To accommodate the floats, marching bands, and thousands of expected spectators, temporary &#8220;No Parking&#8221; restrictions will be strictly enforced from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 27th along the entire designated parade route and staging areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Affected Street Closures and No Parking Zones:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Parade Route &amp; Staging: Vehicles must be completely cleared from all designated parade streets, including the perimeter surrounding Guthridge Park where post-parade activities\u2014including the Stars &amp; Stripes Chalk Fest\u2014will immediately follow.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enforcement: Any vehicles remaining parked on the restricted city streets after 7:00 AM on Saturday will be subject to ticketing and towing at the owner\u2019s expense.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents living directly along the route are advised to move their vehicles to private driveways or nearby unrestricted side streets on Friday evening to avoid disruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spectator &amp; Event Information:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"gmail-p-rc_5911cabe296b6d73-30\">Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to find parking in designated public lots and permitted side streets outside of the parade route zone.
