Hiawatha’s annual Amnesty Day is scheduled to May 4th this year.
Amnesty day is intended to assist residents by hauling away items that are not normally picked up by their regular garbage haulers. Homes that do not meet requirements will receive a notice on their front door stating why items were not collected. Please recycle all items that can be recycled.
Staff will collect items that go to the landfill first, then come back to pick-up steel and appliances.
DO NOT bring in debris from outside of Hiawatha. Please report illegal dumping to the Hiawatha Police Department at (319) 393-1212.
