Blairs Ferry Road from 2nd Ave to 6th Ave temporary lane closures for railroad crossing improvements. Travel lanes will be reduced to one lane in the east direction and two lanes in the west direction during center median construction.
HIAWATHA, IA – April 27, 2022 – Starting Monday, May 2, the inside travel lane in each direction will be closed east of the I-380 overpass bridge. As a result of the construction work, there will be temporary modifications to the traffic flow in each direction extending from 2nd Ave to 6th Ave. The outside lane will remain open in the eastbound direction and two outside lanes will remain open in the westbound lane. This temporary closure is necessary for the contractor to modify the center median near the railroad crossing to bring the medians in compliance for a Rail Quiet Zone. The medians will be reconstructed and extended with a sloped nose at each end. The work will occur between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.
Thru traffic should expect delays. Please try to avoid the areas during construction. All work is anticipated to last four (4) weeks.
