Corridor MPO Seeks Public’s Input on Transportation Priorities and Funding as Long Range Transportation Plan is Developed

CEDAR RAPIDS – Residents of Cedar Rapids, Ely, Fairfax, Hiawatha, Linn County, Marion, Palo, and Robins can weigh in on how the region invests approximately $125 million in transportation over the next 25 years. Input is critical to help the Corridor MPO prioritize regional transportation investments.

The Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization seeks input from the public on transportation projects for inclusion in the next long-range transportation plan (LRTP) to improve the Cedar Rapids metro. The plan will guide the allocation of approximately $5 million in annual federal funding until 2045. The public is asked to comment on road, trail, transit, and Safe Routes to School (SRTS) transportation projects in which they would like to see transportation dollars invested. SRTS is a new mode of transportation that will be funded under this LRTP.

Comments are being solicited on the Corridor MPO’s 2045 LRTP website. The site can also be reached by going to www.corridormpo.com and clicking on “2045 LRTP.” On the website, lists and maps of potential projects will be found. The public is asked to weigh in on improvements they support or oppose and why.

Please check the Corridor MPO website or Facebook page for future opportunities to provide input on the Corridor MPO’s Long Range Transportation Plan.
