Emerald Ash Bore Public Informational Meeting

The City will be holding a public informational meeting concerning EAB on September 25, 2018 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM in the lower level Multi-Purpose Room of City Hall. State District Forester Mark Vitosh from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will give a short presentation and answer questions.

As many of you are aware the Emerald Ash Bore (EAB), which attacks and kills Ash trees, has been found in Linn County, specifically the Cedar Rapids, Marion, and Toddville areas. Chances are very high that EAB is in Hiawatha, although we do not have a confirmed case.

Ash trees on private property are the responsibility of the property owner. The decision to remove or chemically treat trees on private property rests with the property owner. Property owners are encouraged to do their own research before making any decisions.
