Open House: Tower Terrace Road Corridor Management Plan Update
Tuesday, October 30, 2018; 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Hiawatha City Hall, 101 Emmons Street, Hiawatha
Meeting in the Community Center (Parking and access in the front of City Hall)
Open House format (come anytime), as well as identical presentations at 5:15 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Tower Terrace Road has been planned since the 1960s, and evidence of subdivision plats with right-of-way reservations occurred as early as 1977. Years later, this plan is starting to become reality with some roadway segments complete, some in the design process, and some in the planning process.
The purpose of this plan is to revisit the goals and objectives identified in the 2010 plan to confirm their application to the current vision of the jurisdictions along the corridor. Additionally, this plan builds upon and supplements the work originally done for the Tower Terrace Road Corridor Management Plan, taking it to the next step to provide a more robust implementation plan.
The implementation plan includes:
· Phasing the corridor into financially manageable sized construction projects,
· Developing conceptual plans and cost estimates for each project,
· Assigning priority for each project,
· Identifying funding sources, and
· Developing an implementation schedule.
This update involves many jurisdictions and agencies, including:
• City of Hiawatha
• City of Robins
• City of Cedar Rapids
• Linn County
• City of Marion
• Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT)
Public participation is an important component of this process because it provides an opportunity for the community and interested stakeholders to help identify what is important to them and share ideas for improvements. Comments submitted from the meeting will be incorporated into the Tower
Terrace Road Corridor Management Plan Update. In addition to the two identical presentations, staff and consultants will be located at stations with project information and be available to answer questions and hear feedback.
