On April 20, City Council awarded the 2016 Mosquito Control Program to Mosquito Control of Iowa from Rolfe, Iowa. Mosquito Control of Iowa has over 30 years of experience in the industry and they have been performing mosquito spraying services in Hiawatha for many years.
Hiawatha uses a Full Integrated Pest Management Program including a combination of treatments throughout the season based on the NEPDES permit. Program services include surveying, monitoring, larvaciding in stagnant water areas, and contact and residual spraying. Depending on the weather and species of mosquitoes encountered, the treatments will be selected from the control methods to provide the city with the best results.
Scheduled spray dates:
- Concerts in Guthridge Park on May 27, August 5, August 12, August 19, and August 26,
- Movies in Guthridge Park on July 15 and August 26,
- and Hiawatha Fun Fest in Guthridge Park on August 26 and August 27.
