Boyson Road from Boyson Court to Robins Road will be closed for fire training at an abandoned house located at 100 Boyson Road.
HIAWATHA, IA – November 20, 2022 – Boyson Road will be closed from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm on Sunday, November 20, from Boyson Court to Robins Road. All traffic will be required to detour on Robins Road and Hawkeye Drive. Local traffic only will be allowed on Boyson Court.
This temporary road closure is required to all the Hiawatha Fire Department to do live training on a vacant home located at 100 Boyson Road. The training will consist of live fires set inside the house in order to simulate real house fire conditions. At the end of the training, they will set a fire to completely destroy the house. As they will be flowing a considerable amount of water during the actual burning of the house to keep it under control, local residents and businesses may notice a drop in water pressure during this time.
Local and thru traffic should expect delays. Please try to avoid this area during the live training.
